Our Wins

    • The Mana Kidz programme started in July 2012 over 23,000 high risk Tamariki have been provided with free health checks at school.

    • On the On the 18th of July, 2013 the Mana Kidz team of over 100 staff gathered together to celebrate their successes with the help of Hon Minister Tariana Turia.

    • Mana Kidz is the largest rheumatic fever initiative in New Zealand, and is an example of primary health organisations working together in an alliance to improve the health and wellbeing of tamariki.

    • Registered nurses and whānau support workers (WSW) work in the school five days a week, providing free assessment, treatment and management of sore throats (rheumatic fever prevention) and skin infections, including free medication, as well as health referrals for a range of other child health conditions.

    • Every parent/caregiver of treated children received medication education and follow-up, and support around healthy practices at home to prevent sore throats or serious skin infections.

      • Mana Kidz is a proactive health education and prevention programme which is based in the heart of communities. It is specifically targeted at high risk communities, to wipe out rheumatic fever. The programme also works closely with whānau to address other social determinants of health.
